San Agustin Church
"Favorite wedding spot"
One of the Baroque Churches of the Philippine inscribed in 1993 on the World Heritage List pursuant to 1972 UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural heritage.
The church became the site of the first Philippine Plenary Council in 1953. It has remained a symbol of the glorious past in the old city of Intramuros.
An intricately carved door opens the church. Of great interest are the baroque pulpit, molave choir stalls and an 18th century pipe organ. Also found here is the tomb of Manila's founder and first governor-general Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, as well as the remains of other Spanish conquistadors. The monastery, on the other hand, houses an impressive collection of paintings, statues and church objects dating back to the Spanish period. Its adjacent museum and garden - Father Blanco's Garden - is a favorite reception venue.
SAN AGUSTIN MUSEUM is a private-owned museum maintained by the Augustinian Friars and housed inside the monastery of the church
The collections include 26 huge oil paintings of saints---

In this place, numerous numbers of Chinese restaurants are found. There are high end Chinese restaurants while there are also small Chinese restaurants. Most Chinese schools are located here in Binondo since most of the Chinese residents live in the area so going to school wouldn't be such a hassle. Newspaper offices and factories are also found here but Binondo is really famous for their shopping centers and shopping areas because products from China are sold at a really low price. Chinese businessmen/women also have "pamahiins" that they follow when it comes to their businesses, such as putting a bagua at the top of the door frame because the bagua shouldn't be placed on the door because it shouldn't be moving, Feng Shui 5-element Mystic Knot Tassels placed on the doors, the famous Buddha Figurines and the golden cat figurines place on the counter, Golden bells on the door, jade figurines for money and many more. They believe that by putting all these will bring good vibes or good spirits for their business meaning more customers and more money.

It is the long stretch at the side of the Roxas Boulevard. This is the perfect place to watch the sunrise and sunset. There are usually joggers who just run back and forth for exercise. You will be able to see the Yachts parked along the sides and the different small booths along Manila bay and those who are selling other things.
Manila bay has been part of Filipino lives since then. Its water was used for different purposes. Greatly it supports our livelihood industry such as fishery. However Manila bay is still a getaway for us. Watching the sunrise and sunset in Manila Bay is simply breath-taking. It is also nice to visit this place because SM Mall of Asia is near.

The National Museum of the Philippines was established in Manila on October 29, 1901 and is the premier keeper of the country’s heritage. The museum is the home to historical collections and shares it to the common populace with its effort to conserve, protect and promote the natural and cultural legacy of the Filipino people. The National Museum is located at P. Burgos Avenue. On February 12, 1998, Republic Act 8492 also known as the 'National Museum Act of 1998', finally established the National Museum as an independent institution with a permanent and exclusive site known as the National Museum Complex. This consists of the National Museum Main(former Old Congress Building), which houses the National Art Gallery, the Museum of the Filipino People (former Finance Building), and the Department of the Tourism Building which shall become the Museum of Natural History. Per P.D. 804-A, the Planetarium is also administered and maintained by the National Museum.

The Philippine national museum was a very trivial place to visit; it has lots of time-bounded artifacts that highly speak of our country’s history as well as the true talent of Filipino artists today. The museum in addition is also the home to Juan Luna’s celebrated “Spoliarium.” The spolarium measures four meters in height and seven meters in width. The canvas depicts a chamber beneath a Roman arena, where bodies of dead gladiators are being hauled into a dimly lit area, I imagine to be piled for dumping. The Spoliariuim is the artwork that draws a large amount of attention and praise from the Museum’s visitors, because of its impeccable attention to detail and life-size astonishment of a masterpiece.

Museo Pambata
Museo Pambata was opened on the year of 1994; it is the Philippines' leading children's museum. Museo Pambata is a children’s discovery museum with various programs in support of children’s rights and a broad range of creative and educational services for children and adults involved in children’s welfare. Together with Former Department of Social Welfare and Development secretary Estefania Aldaba-Lim, their shared enthusiasm over the idea of having a children’s museum in the country was finally achieved when the Museum opened its doors to the children and the young at heart in 1994. Museo Pamabata also aims to educate children through its adaptability to the interest of children especially to those who are not capable of formal education. This Museum only proves that education can be entertaining and entertainment can be educational.

Minor Basilica and National Shrine of San Lorenzo Ruiz
Binondo Church is located in Manila's Chinatown at the western end of Ongpin Street, Binondo. The original building was destroyed by a bombardment by the British in 1762 during their brief occupation of Manila at that time. The current granite church was completed on the same site in 1852 and features an octagonal bell tower which suggests the Chinese culture of the parishioners. Binondo Church was greatly damaged during the Second World War, although fortunately the western facade and the octagonal bell tower survived. Binondo Church is also known as the Minor Basilica of San Lorenzo Ruiz. It was named after the sacristan, San Lorenzo Ruiz, who was born of a Chinese father and a Filipino mother, trained in this church and afterwards went as a missionary to Japan and was executed there for refusing to renounce his religion. San Lorenzo Ruiz was to be the Philippines' first saint and he was canonized in 1989. A large statue of the martyr stands in front of the church.
The Binondo Church is located in a commune that is populated by the overseas Chinese population. The Spaniards found the place as this was within the range of the Intramuros cannons so as to quell any uprising from the Chinese. It is interesting to know that the local Catholic Chinese community maintains the church. The church also highlights the long tradition of Christianity in the society.

San Sebastian Church
The Basilica Minore de San Sebastian or the San Sebastian Curch is a fine representation of the Gothic revival in the Philippines. The Basilica in mixed with 19th-century innovations in church construction, architecture, and art. It takes pridde as the only all-steel basilica in the world. The church is under the administration of The Order of the Augustine Recollects. The San Agustin Church is located at Legarda Street, Quiapo.
The San Sebastian Church is the only neo-gothic church in the country and the whole of Asia.
It has long been presumed that Gustave Eiffel, the French engineer behind the Eiffel Tower and the steel structure within the Statue of Liberty, was involved in the design and construction of San Sebastian Church.
The connection between Eiffel and San Sebastian Church was allegedly confirmed by historian Ambeth Ocampo while doing research in Paris. Ocampo likewise published a report that in the 1970s, the prominent architect Ieoh Ming Peihad visited Manila to confirm reports he had heard that Eiffel had designed an all-steel church in Asia. When Pei inspected San Sebastian Church, he reportedly decreed that the metal fixtures and overall structure were definitely designed by the renowned Gustave Eiffel.
It is said that the official catalogues of Eiffel make possible allusion to the design and dissemination of the church in Manila in 1875. If truly found positive, this would still not exclude the possibility that Eiffel had designed the metal structure of the church, with Palacios completing the actual design of the entire church.
By Jaclyn Siapno
San Sebastian church survived the war. It was pre-fabricated by Belgians in 1889 and shipped lock, stock and steel---and 50,812 tons of it---and bolted in to place in 1891.
